Why I'm on Bandcamp.
As a musician and songwriter, my absence from TikTok and Instagram means that I prioritize meaningful music over short-form, attention-grabbing content. Social media rewards click-chasing rather than listening to a song. Millions of musicians compete for attention on social media. My music would get buried in the algorithm game. I prefer Bandcamp, where listeners engage more deeply. I don’t want to make content—I want to make music. The music can speak for itself. If my work is good, it’ll find ears—even without a viral hashtag. My choice.
Bandcamp also has streaming, for those who have purchased music on the platform—with no additional fee. While it's not a standalone streaming service like Spotify, it allows users to stream purchased music via the Bandcamp app, or through the website.
